My #ESIFF2023 Experience

Attending the Edo State International Film Festival (ESIFF) was an unforgettable experience that left me both inspired and in awe of the creative talent showcased at the event. From the moment I set foot on the festival grounds, I could sense the energy and passion that filled the air, bringing together movie makers, investors, distributors, and industry enthusiasts from all corners of the world. Attending the ESIFF 2023 edition was a decision that I made after hearing about the success of its Maiden edition with over 1500 movie entries from over 90 countries.

ESIFF is not just a celebration of cinema, but also a catalyst for meaningful discussions on industry challenges, growth opportunities, and the role of film in societal development. The workshops, masterclasses, and special sessions offered at the festival were invaluable resources for filmmakers and industry professionals looking to upskill and stay abreast of the latest trends in the film industry.

The 2023 edition of ESIFF, which I had the privilege of attending was hosted by the Executive Director, Edo Creative Hub. It was a whirlwind of activity with over 3,000 film submissions from around the world. The carefully curated selection of films showcased a diverse range of storytelling, reflecting the festival's commitment to promoting a tapestry of voices and perspectives.

One of the highlights of my ESIFF experience was rubbing shoulders with entertainment and movie stars such as Carol King, Alibaba, Paul Obazele, and many others. Their presence at the festival added an extra layer of excitement and glamour to the event, underscoring the importance of engaging in meaningful dialogue centered on the art of cinema.

The festival culminated in an elegant awards night at the Victor Uwaifo Creative Hub, where deserving filmmakers were recognized for their outstanding work. It was a moment of celebration and reflection on the power of storytelling to inspire, challenge, and unite audiences around the world.

As I left ESIFF, I felt a renewed sense of purpose and determination to continue supporting the arts and championing the creative voices that make our world a more vibrant and diverse place. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of such a groundbreaking event and look forward to seeing the impact ESIFF will continue to have on the global film industry in the years to come.

In conclusion, the success of ESIFF wouldn't be possible without the unwavering support of remarkable individuals and organizations such as the Edo State Government, SDC, German Cooperation, GIZ-SKYE, Edition Jobs, Azura Edo, and Kada Cinema. Their commitment to enhancing the event and providing unforgettable experiences is truly commendable, and we're immensely grateful for their continued support.
